5 Best Printers For Edible Images For Your Home Baking Business (2024)

When starting my home baking business I had zero interest in buying an edible printer. I love to create art and wanted to do everything by hand that I possibly could. But some things are just better to print!

The first cake I used an edible printer for was for an Iphone cake. Someone asked for a cake with a screenshot from Instagram. Now I couldn’t just try and draw that out it wouldn’t be realistic. Instead, I took the money from that order and put it towards an edible printer.

Since buying that printer in my first year it has allowed me to do edible image decor on so many more cakes and cupcakes in my home baking business.

When I first would think of edible images I would imagine the grocery store sheet cakes with a picture of your face on it. But there are so many options when it comes to edible images, I have used it for money stack cakes, marine, and navy cakes, eclairs with a company logo, and so much more!

The ability to be able to print high-quality images can help to make cakes more realistic or keep the likeness of a cartoon character even if you aren’t the most amazing artist.

Which printer is the best for edible images?

1. Canon TR8620 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 2k+ reviews $

The Canon TR8620 is an all-in-one printer and is the printer currently use in my home baking business. I can use my icinginks cartridges which I love! This printer like most has Bluetooth and scanning capability and mobile printing. Allowing me to edit images on Canva and print them from my laptop or phone. The price point for this printer is amazing! It has already paid for itself easily.

This printer is a normal ink printer as well BUT… once you use regular ink in a printer you can no longer use it for edible images. Trace amounts of ink can be left behind and be harmful. So if you decide to use a printer that can do both make sure your edible image printer is dedicated to that and only that. No going back and forth.
